I have several planned tasks for my first major edit (Status updated as of 2/1/0
:
- adding in details to set the timing tangibly Status: Mostly done. (I’ve established the timing at least. I’ll continue to add details in where appropriate.)
- removing all references to points of view other than Bea’s (which is mostly the one Dr. Evans scene and a few random “Raymond thought” or “Raymond felt” bits) Status: In Progress. Dr. Evans scene is done. Many other point-of-view problems are also fixed, but I’m sure I’ll find more before I finish.
- reworking the scene with the Millers, so that Ray is eavesdropping and hears the drawn out version of the story. This will make it easier to believe (I think) that he gets so intrigued so quickly, and will give him a confession to make later that will allow me to explain more of why he is so intrigued. Status: Done. And I really like how it came out.
- I know the initial Vincent scene needs fixing, but I’m not sure how yet. Status: Done. Much happier with this too.
- possibly delaying the first kiss or changing Bea’s reaction to it. Status: Scratched. Based on my survey results, I decided to leave the kiss where it was.
- more detail in the Don assault scene (and possibly more character development for him, although I don’t really want to waste time on that) Status: Pending. I haven’t got this far yet.
- possibly increasing the dream-free time at the house to allow for more total RayBea time. Status: Pending. I haven’t gotten to this yet either.
- more description for mood of the Edgewood House, the map area, etc. Status: Done. Overall, I’m happy with this too. It needs touching up though, I think. I’ll catch that on the quick run-through at the end.
- flush out or trim down the travel part. Status: Done. I trimmed down some boring bits and added in a conversation and a little hint of a joke to lighten things up. This might need revisiting when I buzz through at the end.
- general tightening throughout and more unusual word choices where appropriate. Status: In Progress. This won’t be done until I finish the major edit, obviously.
Any thoughts?
